The Red Sea is located between Asia and Africa, and the water is clear, transparent[透明的] and warm. It is suitable for swimming and bathing. Therefore, the Red Sea attracts lots of tourists. However, in some of the most beautiful places on the Red Sea, the water is the color red.
The hot, dry climate surrounding the Red Sea, causes the water to evaporate[蒸发] quickly, which means the remaining water has a high salt content, which is also called saline. The temperature is also very high. These conditions are suitable for a type of algae[藻类] to grow. The algae is red in color, and since there is so much of it, it makes the water in the Red Sea appear red.
Also sandstorms[沙尘暴] from the Sahara Desert also bring red sand that covers the Red Sea and surrounding areas, making it look even more red. After a sandstorm, everything is coated in red sand, creating a uniquely beautiful scene.
