听写战队第10季 Team#J055 //2014 July 31
Before the Challenge:
After the previous season, Season 9, I have continued to do dictation entries, aiming to max out everyday with 800 HuJiang. I think I only missed 3 days or so. I completed quite a few entries prior to the start of Season 10, which ran from July 01 to July 31. My question from before was answered. After the end of a season, the teams do not dissolve by default. We can choose to change members or keep them the same. Since our group from Season 9 was already linked from before, after confirming the availability of everyone on the team, making sure we have our goals aligned, I clicked the enrol button and registered our team.
Prior to Dictation Challenge Season 10, my stats were 404 Japanese entries with 89% and 1949 Korean entries with 89%, totaling 2353 entries with 89%. The screen shot from below was taken on July 01 after I completed the entries for the day, which were 14 Korean entries.
After the 31 days of dictation during the month of July, my stats increased to a total of 2620 entries with 89%, which included 404 Japanese entries with 89% and 2216 Korean entries with 90%. During the 31 days, I listened exclusively to Korean entries. I was very happy that my accuracy for Korean entries increased by 1% to 90%. I was looking at that 89% for a long time and wanted to make it go up to 90%. Now I have to make sure I keep it there and continue to increase.
During the Challenge:
It is all about management. Once I figured out my goal, submitting 800 maximum HuJiang coins is not difficult. I took care of the requirements first thing in the morning. Since I was used to the 24-hour delayed system status, a sign-in post was not necessary.
I achieved my goal of obtaining 800 maximum HuJiang coins everyday for all 31 days, totaling 24,800 HuJiang coins.

All 5 members of our team (#J055) completed the challenge, yet the top prize brushed us by once again. It was unfortunate that one member missed one day and another member missed two days. Regardless, we were able to obtain the runner-up prize.

During Season 10 of the Dictation Challenge, I worked mainly on the TOPIK Beginner Level program and used the high frequency program as top-up:

No new challenges were encountered during this Dictation Challenge as this was the fourth time I participated in the activity and was familiar with the protocol. The biggest issue I had was the instability of the server. There were at least three days, if not more that I received a server error message. It was annoying when I tried to squeeze the activity into my busy schedule, only to receive an error message. I would have to try again later, which I felt was time wasted. The server needs to be more reliable. Actually, I do believe other people experience the similar problems. As one of the supporting hosts of the Standard Voice of America (Standard VoA) program, I see complains of no audio, partial audio, hints not showing for some people, etc. When I see these complains, I always go to check out the problem, but I do not experience these problems myself.
After the Challenge:
Now that I see a bigger picture, I no longer feel upset when the top prize became out of my reach. I have already done my part, and some things will always be out of my hands. I should work on things I have control over as compared to worrying about things I cannot control. A dictation challenge is only a small, partial view of a larger image.
I really like the pie chart in the updated system. Once the system is debugged, hopefully more functions will be added. I look forward to having real-time stats, especially ranking, of our own team, as well as other teams.
I look forward to Season 11!
