听写战队第11季 Team#K003 //2014 September 30
Before the Challenge:
In between Season 10 and Season 11, I have consistently completed 800 HJcoins everyday, so I did not feel a great transition when Season 11 started. There was a change in the member composition, and I was looking for new members to join the team. Two new members joined our team. Our goal was still the same, 800 HJcoins everyday for the duration of the month, aiming for the top prize. Because our team was formed already, when Season 11 was announced, I signed up our team immediately. We were the 3rd team to sign up for Season 11.
Prior to Dictation Challenge Season 11, my stats were 404 Japanese entries with 89% and 2520 Korean entries with 90%, totaling 2924 entries with 90%. The screen shot from below was taken on August 30, without accounting for the 9 entries I completed on August 31.
After the 30 days in September, my stats increased to a total of 3180 entries with 90%, which included 404 Japanese entries with 89% and 2776 Korean entries with 90%. For Season 11, I only completed Korean entries. The screen shot was taken on October 02, after I completed 20 extra entries in two days after the end of Season 11.
During the Challenge:
I am so used to completing 800 maximum HuJiang coins everyday that it would feel strange if I do not do it. For all 30 days in September, I earned the maximum 800 HuJiang coins everyday, totaling 24,800 HuJiang coins.

4 of the 5 members of our team (#K003) completed the challenge. It was really unfortunate that one member disappeared half-way through the challenge. We were unable to get in touch with said member. Since one member missed for more than 4 days, other team members would not qualify for any prizes, just the standard sunshine reward.

During Season 11 of the Dictation Challenge, I completed all the available entries for the program TOPIK初级听力练习 and 韩语高频会话短句. Since these two programs are not completed, once in a while, new entries may be uploaded. I also started to focus on 韩国语听力教程初级上 and use 跟Pororo一起学韩语 as top-up:
TOPIK初级听力练习: http://ting.hujiang.com/topikchuji/ [completed last posted entry on 2014Jun25]
韩语高频会话短句: http://ting.hujiang.com/huihuaduanju/ [completed last posted entry on 2013Oct08]
韩国语听力教程初级上: http://ting.hujiang.com/koreanlisten1/ [in progress]
跟Pororo一起学韩语: http://ting.hujiang.com/Pororokr/ [in progress]
There was no new challenge encountered in Season 11, though the program 跟Pororo一起学韩语 was difficult in the sense that it came from a kids' program and there were a lot of noise and exclamation in the audio, making the dictation seem hard. During this season of the challenge, I also encountered the server instability problem. On September 16, 21, 22 and 25, I was not able to load dictation entries. The page simply would not load. Instead, I got the error message with the error code "503 Service Unavailable" which said that "No server is available to handle his request." My experience was that it would take about 30 minutes for the problem to resolve itself, but quite often, I could not afford to wait around for that time, since those 30 minutes would be the only time I had to complete the dictation entries. This is the fifth time I took part in the challenge, and I continued to be impressed by the improvement each time around. I really appreciate the fact that the results come out so soon. This is especially important if team restructure is needed. With the results published, I can scout out potential new members and start to prepare for the following season.
After the Challenge:
This is the first time our team did not win any of the top prizes since I took on the role as team leader. Although the outcome is disappointing, there is always the next season to look forward to. To strengthen my dictation abilities, I need to continue studying grammar. I find that dictation is such an effective way to improve listening. Just a few days ago, I was watching a video clip of an interview of several people. I was watching the clip for a few minutes, then one person they were interviewing was slurring his words. I did not catch what he was saying. I looked around on screen and realized that there was no subtitle. I was actually quite impressed with myself at that moment. Thanks, 听写酷!
I look forward to Season 12!
