The users of Tencent Weibo, a Chinese micro blogging platform, are having a hot discussion that the spice commonly sells in China for about 7.9RMB, or US$1.27, but American luxury flash-buying site Gilt.com previously featured a pair of bottles for US$11.95. At just under US$6.00 per bottle.

A Weibo post about a famous Chinese chili sauce entering the South Korean market has triggered heated online discussions and been forwarded many times, chinadaily.com.cn reported. The post by netizen"@struggling in South Korea" said, "Dear all living in South Korea, your goddess has come! Lao Gan Ma chili sauce is being sold at Homeplus, priced at 3,800 won each, about 21RMB." Some netizens have suggested that the manufacturer of the sauce should apply for UNESCO World Heritage status, otherwise South Korea may claim it as its own.
