As Shakespeare said, “Our praise is our wage,” If students were praised for even the smallest progress, they would be greatly encouraged to work harder. If, on the other hand, they see that the teachers are finding fault with them, they will feel sad.

In a sense, praise is like sunlight to people’s progress, without which we cannot flower and grow.

An ounce of praise is worth a pound of criticism. To give praise costs one nothing but a few words. It is an investment that has nothing to do with money. It will help us grow up healthily.

In the case of praise, some parents are doing much better. For example, parents good at praising often speak proudly of their children’s achievements, telling how Johnny did well in the school team or how Jane did well in her study.

On the other hand, parents bad at praising are a little “mean” in terms of praise. They would say, “Oh, my son never listen to me.” or “He’s so poor in basketball.” or “My daughter asks for new skirts all the time.”

In the eyes of the latter kind of parents, there is little to speak ill of their children.

In the eyes of the former kind of parents, there is little to speak well of their children.

         How is it possible?
