如何让员工甘愿奉献
How to enable staff to be willing to devote themselves to work?

我刚到NetApp的时候,负责组建全球销售分支。

I was responsible for the organization of global marketing branch as a beginner in the NetApp Company.
当时,我们的目标并不是要建立一个日本、中国或者英国的NetApp,而是希望呈现统一的公司形象。
At that time, we were not going to build a NetApp of Japan, China or England but present the unity of the business image.
优秀的企业文化就是在无人监督的情况下,员工依然会做正确的事情。
Duties will still be fulfilled under no supervision is what the excellent corporate culture all about.
跨国公司如何才能在全球范围内打造卓越的企业文化,我认为一下几点非常重要:
How to create the worldwide outstanding business culture for the multinational corporation? I think the following points are of significance.
首先,尊重每一位员工。
Firstly, respect every employee.
领导者需要让员工知道你是关心他的。
Leaders are supposed to have the staff realized that you are care about them.
在NetApp初创时期,我创造了一种文化,就是在员工做“对”的时候向他们表达欣赏和感谢,比如员工帮助顾客解决了一个问题,或者帮助公司实现了增长,或者做公益回馈社会,我都会打电话感谢他们。
At the very beginning of the establishment of NetApp, I created a kind of culture which is about expressing appreciation and gratitude towards the staff when they have done a great job. For instance, I will make a call to express my thanks to my staff when they manage to settle down a problem or increase the sales amount or engage in charity as retribution to the society.


其二,要有美好的愿景。

Secondly, grand blueprint is necessary.
公司愿景不应该仅仅是事先多少盈收,而是要成为一家员工一名引以为豪、能够可持续发展、不断取得成功的公司。
The prospect of the company is more than estimated profit but an aim of becoming a sustainable developing corporation, keeping meeting with success and being proud by the staffs.
10多年前,NetApp就有一项政策,只要员工去做他们感兴趣的慈善工作,每年就能得到一个星期的额外假期。
10 years before, there has been a policy that staffs can gain an extra one-week holiday every year as long as they take part in the charity activities interested in.


第三,注重员工的表现和绩效。

Thirdly, think highly of the performance and achievement of the staffs.
成就一番伟业,必然需要巨大的牺牲。
If you want to make a great achievement, you must sacrifice a great deal as well.
员工在为公司未来奋斗时,必然会做出很多个人牺牲。
It is natural that staffs will make a lot of personal concessions when they are struggling for the future of the company.
企业文化的作用就在于员工做出牺牲不是被迫的,而是为了成就正确的事情自愿做出。
Under the effect of the business culture, staff do not sacrifice reluctantly but willingly. 
领导者要非常重视激励员工,尤其是当他们需要之时。
Attaching great importance to the encouragement, especially when the staff need it, is the leaders’ job.


最后,关注领导力。

Lastly, focus on the leadership.
领导和管理的区别在于领导的是人而管理的是事
The difference between leadership and management is the objects----the former is persons while the latter is things.
优秀领导者都有一个共性:他们的团队愿意努力为他工作,原因不是惧怕他,而是不想让他失望。
All the charming leaders have one thing in common which is their teams are willing to work hard for them,not because they are terrified but they are unwilling to disappoint their superiors.
作为领导者,如果想影响员工的行为,想让他们甘愿奉献,一定要让员工有感同身受的体验,让他们非常支持这项事业。
As a leader, only if you make effort to enable your staff to be totally supportive to your career by experiencing the same eager as you can you influence their behaviors to contribute to you from the bottom of heart.
领导者要让员工甘愿与你合作,为团队创造价值,帮助他们在工作中更好地发展,并且让他们知道共同打造公司的是一项让人骄傲的事业。
Leaders should always be ready to cooperate with their staffs, create value for the working teams, help the staffs to develop better at work and let them know what a proud career they are fighting for with the leaders.
