4. 强大的纳构力和长久的稳定性

Strong ability of being tolerant to diversities and long-term stability

源远流长的中国美术传统,之所以不像许多古老的艺术传统一样,在历史的长途跋涉中失落,而是以巨大的生命力延续下来,就在于中国美术传统有着巨大的纳构力。

Traditional Chinese Art has a long standing history. The reason that it hasn’t lost in the twisting long history like many other ancient art traditions, but continued to exist with powerful vitality, is because that Chinese art tradition has a strong ability of being tolerant to diversities. 

这就是说中国艺术传统是在以儒家常说为主导,兼及道、佛之说的影响下形成的结构主体不断内入、同化外部因素的传统。

That means, traditional Chinese art, with Confucianism as the leading principle and influenced by Taoism and Buddhism, has formed a structure body that constantly absorbs and assimilates outside elements. 

就艺术的历史而论,许多艺术奇迹都可以看到这种力的痕迹,秦代阿房宫的建造集中了六国工匠的智慧,六国的文化在当时是有异于秦文化的;汉代北方的艺术中凝聚着南方的楚风;汉唐时期对西域文化、佛教艺术的吸取消化;明朝以来对西洋绘画的借鉴,都使中国美术转换着生机。

In terms of the history of art, many art miracles showed the trace of this ability. For example, E-pang Palace of Qin Dynasty brought together wisdoms of craftsmen of six states, whose culture were different with Qin; In Han Dynasty, the art in north united Chu style of southern part; in the period of Han and Tang Dynasty, the local culture absorbed and assimilated the culture of China’s western regions and Buddhism art; Paints of Ming and later period imitated the elements of Western painting. All these facts had kept Chinese art full of vitality. 

纳构力使作为中国文化传统子系统的美术传统成为稳定性极强的传统。这种传统的稳定性,特别在唐宋以后的宋元明清更为明显。

The ability of being tolerant to diversities makes our art tradition, a subsystem of Chinese culture tradition, to be a highly stabled one. This stability of tradition was especially evident in Song, Yuan and Qin Dynasties, which follow the Tang and Song Dynasties.

 

可以说我们的艺术传统是最有生命的传统。它给我们民族和国家增添了光辉,它向世界传播了智慧之光,它是一笔巨大的精神财富,它是世界美术史上重要辉煌的篇章。

We can say that our art tradition is the most animate one. It adds splendors to our race and country, and spreads light of wisdom to the rest of world; it is a great spiritual wealth and an important chapter of world art history. 

我们应在中国美术史的遗产中,挑选出那些具有生命力的东西,带着这份厚礼,走向现代、走向世界,固守传统和虚无主义的态度是不可取的。

We should pick those of vitality out from the heritage of China’s art history as a lavish gift, moving towards the modern society and the whole world. The attitude of sticking to original traditions and nihilism is inadvisable.
