How to Communicate With Others Without Criticizing Them

如何委婉地提出建议

 

Communicating with a colleague, employer, friend or family member can often be difficult, especially when you are are pointing out a fault or asking them to modify their behavior. While there is a fine line between communication and criticism, it is important to stay on good terms with the people you interact with in order to foster good will and behavior with respect to you and your colleagues.

 

很多情况下与同僚、上司、朋友或家人沟通可不是件轻松的事情,尤其是当你想要指出或让他们改正错误的时候。而沟通与批评之间往往只有一线之隔,所以在与人交流时你需要仔细斟酌,友好地表达出你的善意和对彼此的尊重。

 

Pointing Out Mistakes

While criticizing an individual can often result in a defensive and negative reaction, it is still important to point out mistakes or problems you are noticing with friends or co-workers. Instead of attacking the individual, point out the mistakes in a supportive and kind tone, making the individual feel comfortable with your suggestions. This comfortable feeling will also help the individual internalize what you are saying, hopefully changing his actions or attitude in the future.

 

指出错误

虽然批评一般会让对方产生抵抗或者负面心理,但指出你朋友或者同僚所犯的错误还是非常重要的。不过你需要友善而热心地表达你的意见和建议,让对方听得舒服,而不会感到被冒犯。这样对方才有可能听进去你的话,并在今后的行动或态度上有所改善。

 

Empathy

While communicating with an individual, it is possible to make your personal opinions and points known while simultaneously empathizing with them. If you convince the individual who you are communicating with that you have given serious thought to his point of view and perspective, it will be easier for you to communicate what you disagree with and why you want the individual to do or say things in a different manner. Empathy will help you form a connection with the individual you are communicating with.

 

换位思考

与人沟通时,可以在阐明自己的意见或观点的同时换位思考,尊重对方的想法。如果能让对方相信你足够理解并尊重他的想法和立场,他就更容易接受你的意见——你认为他做得哪里有问题?为什么你觉得他应该改正这一行为或者言论?换位思考将有助于建立起你们之间交流的纽带。

 

Body Language

During your communication, it is important that the body language you present is positive and reassuring. Sit up straight and look directly in the eye of the person with whom you are communicating. Try to smile, giving off a friendly demeanor as you express what it is your are feeling. Smiling will help you relax as you express your views and simultaneously put the person you are communicating with at ease. Crossing your arms is a sign of being uncomfortable in a conversation.

 

身体语言

在交流时,你的身体语言也应该表现得积极向上并让对方安心。你需要保持坐姿端正,并直视对方双眼。保持微笑,并友善地表述你的想法。你的微笑能让你和对方都感到安心和放松。要注意,在谈话时抱起双臂是表示不自在的讯号。

 

Relating

If your friend or employee has made a mistake that you want to point out to them, directly relating with them on the mistake will help make them feel better. If you have gone through the same thing, let them know that you have made the mistake, too. If you have not, give them an example of someone else who has, making them feel less alone as a result of your communication.

 

产生共鸣

如果你的朋友或属下犯了错,而你想为他们指出来,让对方与你产生共鸣的话能让他们更好受。你有类似经历的话,就告诉他们你也犯过同样的错。没有的话,那就拿别人举例,这会让他们产生共鸣——犯过这种错误的不止他一个人。
