Some people believe that children are given too much free time. They feel that this time should be used to do more school work. How do you think children should spend their free time?

正文:

Nowadays, education has become a priority for parents seeking to secure a good future for their children in this changing world. It seems reasonable that if their children take full use of their free time to do anything relevant to academic and education, they in later life would benefit from early exposures. However, I disagree with type of upbringing.

It is true that the overemphasis on more school work may provide students with access to higher scores in all subjects because this approach would make them more concentrate on their studies without any outside distraction. Therefore, their parents can get a reasonable rate of return which can be, to some degree, quantified by academic skills gained through education.

By contrast, in spite of this, I tend to agree that only in a scientific way, children can acquire their academic potential to great extent. Those people who do not allow children sufficient free time for leisure activities outside school hours, are misguided. Such activity is far from being a waste time of children because they are not academic. So children can use some part of free time to learn courses. It is important to remember that children should learn skills other than intellectual skills. If they spent all free time on school work, they would get nothing beneficial but much peer pressure. Were most of the time spent on pursuit of a higher level of knowledge, children would have few opportunities to cultivate life-based skills, such as organizational skills, communication skills and leadership skills.

Encouraging children to use some part of free time to embark on charity organizations are a good way to enrich their work experience. Skills gained through charity and community services will not only be an access on their CV, but also improve their employment ability. Plus some of free time which is spent on courses, children can nurture their comprehensive qualities and improve whole skills.

Therefore, I think that if children can reasonably distribute their free time, they will not only grow up maturely, but also make their educational path more successful.
